Hope for the future

Everyone has been affected by the events around the Covid 19 virus. In Burton Latimer lives have been lost and lives have been disrupted; we have all missed the ordinary day-to-day contacts with loved ones, friends and neighbours. Those who live alone have sometimes felt isolated.

There have also been acts of kindness and sympathy - a number of people contacted the Town Council wanting to help and, thanks to their kindness, those who could not even get out to shop did not go without supplies. These warm-hearted people deserve our grateful thanks.

Your Town Council felt that the worries, the sadness, the disruption to normal lives and the generosity of spirit should not be forgotten. We decided to remember it in the form of a tree which has now been planted in front of the Harold Mason Centre. The tree bears yellow blossom in the spring and is intended as a commitment to the future. In due course a commemorative plaque will be placed.

Councillor Jenny Davies.
